Professional experience. Practical leadership. Personal accountability.
NextGen Construct & Design brings together disciplined decision-making, construction knowledge, claims experience, and a shared commitment to helping clients make confident choices about their properties.
Built around thoughtful solutions.
NextGen Construct & Design was created to give homeowners and property owners a more accountable, better-informed construction experience. We believe strong projects begin with careful listening, realistic planning, and clear communication.
Our backgrounds in healthcare, construction, restoration, and insurance claims give us a broad perspective on risk, quality, documentation, and problem-solving. That perspective shapes how we evaluate projects, coordinate details, and guide clients from the initial conversation through completion.
The people responsible for your experience.
NextGen Construct & Design is owned and led by Rebecca Marino, the company’s licensed North Carolina general contractor. She leads the NextGen team with a clear focus on quality, accountability, thoughtful planning, and a strong client experience from the first conversation through project completion.
Rebecca Marino
Construction, Design & Business LeadershipRebecca Marino is the owner of NextGen Construct & Design and a licensed North Carolina general contractor. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began her professional career as a licensed pharmacist, working in an environment where precision, responsibility, sound judgment, and trust are essential every day.
Although healthcare was her first profession, Rebecca has long been drawn to construction, interior design, and the process of solving complex problems in practical, lasting ways. That interest developed into a serious professional pursuit and ultimately led her to earn her general contractor license and establish NextGen Construct & Design.
Rebecca brings an unusually disciplined perspective to the construction industry. She is thoughtful about the details, attentive to how spaces should function, and committed to making decisions that balance design, quality, safety, and the client’s real-world needs. Her background has trained her to evaluate information carefully, communicate clearly, and remain composed when a project requires difficult decisions or creative solutions.
As owner, Rebecca sets the standard for how NextGen serves its clients. She leads with integrity, high expectations, and a genuine desire to create a better experience for homeowners and property owners—from the first conversation through the finished result.
Thomas Marino
Estimating • Project Management • Claims & RestorationThomas Marino serves as Construction Oversight Consultant for NextGen Construct & Design, bringing extensive experience across estimating, project management, insurance claims, restoration, and field operations. He plays a central role in turning an initial idea or property concern into a clearly defined, buildable plan.
Thomas writes the company’s estimates, develops detailed scopes of work, evaluates project requirements, coordinates trades and schedules, and helps manage projects from early planning through completion. His work requires him to see both the big picture and the small details—anticipating problems, keeping decisions organized, and making sure the proposed work reflects what the property and client actually need.
Before moving into construction and restoration leadership, Thomas worked as an insurance adjuster. He remains a licensed adjuster in North Carolina, giving him a strong understanding of property damage, documentation, repair methodology, cost evaluation, and the way scopes are reviewed and justified. That experience allows him to communicate effectively with homeowners, contractors, and insurance professionals while identifying issues that might otherwise be overlooked.
Thomas is also a co-owner of NextGen Restoration & Construction, an insurance-focused restoration company. Through years of hands-on involvement, he has managed complex files, written estimates, guided customers through difficult property situations, coordinated crews and vendors, and kept projects moving when circumstances change. At NextGen Construct & Design, he brings that same persistence, practical judgment, and accountability to every project he oversees.
Matthew Leeson
Site Operations • Crew Coordination • Permitting SupportMatthew Leeson serves as Chief Site Operations Consultant for NextGen Construct & Design, providing the consistent field presence that keeps projects organized, crews aligned, and day-to-day site activity moving forward. He works closely with Rebecca and the broader project team to translate plans and scopes into coordinated work in the field.
With a lifetime of experience in construction, Matthew brings practical knowledge developed across roofing, restoration, remodeling, and general construction. He co-founded NextGen Restoration & Construction with Thomas Marino, helping grow the company from its roofing roots into a full-service restoration and construction operation. That progression gave him hands-on experience with a wide range of trades, project conditions, and job-site challenges.
Matthew is often the primary team member on site—meeting crews, reviewing upcoming work, coordinating access and materials, communicating priorities, and helping resolve field questions before they disrupt the schedule. He also assists Rebecca with site meetings involving county officials, permitting requirements, and inspections, helping ensure that project details are communicated clearly and addressed promptly.
He has also held HAAG certification as a residential roof inspector, strengthening his ability to evaluate roofing systems, recognize damage patterns, and understand how exterior assemblies perform. Clients and trade partners value Matthew’s direct communication, steady follow-through, and ability to keep the people performing the work focused on the approved plan and NextGen’s quality expectations.
